Today, we're playing Imperial Assault, a Star Wars board game, at Brian's house: John, me, Brian, Matt and Steven. Brian, Matt and Steven are our friends we know from playing Warmachine.
Our first game of Pandemic. We actually won! Who would have thought - probably won't happen again for a while. It's a hard game.
John picked up two games today: Pandemic and Mage Knight, as well as the new No Quarter magazine (from Privateer Press). They were having a buy one get one half off sale. There's a few other pictures of the store here as well. Places like this sell a wide variety of wacky, awesome board games.
John's usually up here Wed nights playing w/ the Warmachine crew. On Saturday, we're always up at Tower Games, but no one was up there today that we knew - alas. Recap of Jan 1st Board Gaming Day Sooo, yesterday was fun: went to Bryan's house and played board games, as follows: Battle Wizards, DC deck building game, Battlestar Galactica (4ish pm - 9 pm), Warmachine team games (John and Steven vs Walter and Max) and another round of Battle Wizards. Got home around 12:45 a.m. I only wish I was getting more sleep these days. DC Deck Building Game This game is not collaborative, as Marvel's Legendary is, in which you're fighting the villain. Instead, each person fights each other until we run out of villains to defeat/recruit or the deck runs out. Then, everyone adds up their points. There's also only one resource. It's simpler and perhaps a little quicker. I still haven't figured out the best way to win. Both times I've played, I've lost colossally, but had a good time doing it. Battlestar Galactica I really enjoyed Battlestar Galactica - that was my first attempt at it. Basically, the humans are trying to escape from the cylons, a machine race that has made human-look-alike bodies. As I've never watched the series, this was somewhat new information to me. Since we had six people, two of us had to be cylons. Figuring out which ones was fun. I was human the whole time. Turns out, Walter and John were the cylons among us. Walter got shot by Steven, but John was never technically found out though by the end of the game we were pretty sure it had to be him. The humans escaped, with some collateral damage.
Today (Jan 2nd and other news) Today (Jan 2nd), probably going to be at the Gaming Pit in the evening with John, playing Warmachine. Alas, this will not help my sleep habits, though it will be fun. John has the most fun on these days - he loves Warmachine. Also, everyone typically will go out to eat afterward until 1 a.m. The discussion is fun - it's just exhausting. Hopefully, after today, I'll return to normal sleep hours. I might not be on TOR very late (10-11 pm) for the near future. Also, the Warmachine crew is trying to put together an Iron Kingdoms RPG, which seems that will be occurring on Friday evenings. I might join this, if they do not get enough people. I've always wanted to try an RPG style game, so if I do get to join, I'll be looking forward to it. Below, you'll find pictures of the board gaming day. P.S. That shirt of John's and one of the new ones that I bought him for Christmas - a Mythbuster's quote - and one that I was quite fond of. It's very true in science. |
AuthorGaming has decreased markedly, but focus is still SWTOR, Warmachine/ Hordes and the random board game. That's what these posts will address. Archives
